Congratulations on choosing to breastfeed your baby. Breastfeeding is a journey with beautiful moments and occasional challenges. No matter where you are in your experience, our team is here to help you feel confident, supported, and encouraged.

Levels of Support We Offer

All ITCN WIC breastfeeding services are available at no cost to eligible moms. You have access to both Peer Counselors and Lactation Consultants, depending on your needs.

Peer Counselors

Peer Counselors are mothers who have lived through the breastfeeding experience themselves. They understand what you’re going through and can offer practical, everyday support. They stay in touch with you as needed, offering reassurance, friendly advice, and encouragement throughout your breastfeeding journey. Their goal is to help you feel confident and supported at all times.

Lactation Consultants

Lactation Consultants are licensed professionals trained to help with more specific or complex breastfeeding questions. They can assist with issues such as helping your baby latch, managing low milk supply, or understanding discomfort you may be experiencing. Their guidance is meant to give you clear answers and solutions tailored to your situation.

YOUR NEEDS
ARE UNIQUE

Every mother’s breastfeeding experience is different. Some women need frequent support, while others need help only once in a while. Our team listens carefully to your goals and concerns so we can understand what matters most to you. We provide compassionate care that focuses on making breastfeeding work comfortably and confidently for both you and your baby. You will also have access to a variety of helpful educational resources, such as online videos, in-person conversations, and one-on-one support from trained professionals.

What Nevada Moms Learn Through ITCN WIC

Many Nevada moms come to ITCN WIC with questions, and they leave with the knowledge they need to feel prepared and supported. Moms learn how to Prepare for breastfeeding during pregnancy, including what to expect and how to build confidence before the baby arrives. They also learn how to transition back to work or school while continuing to feed their baby in a way that fits their schedule. We provide guidance on how breast pumps work, how to choose the right one, and how to use it comfortably. Mothers also learn how to care for their own health while breastfeeding, including how to manage sore or cracked nipples and other concerns that may come up.
